Here's my list:
#1 Has to be the turbo motor...have avoided them till now because of all the issues with failures due to oil "coking" earlier on...added complexity and potential extra system to fail and lead to costly repairs. Now no choices...Audi/VW and BMW all have gone turbo...But we really enjoy the low RPM torque...you want to pass on a two lane road?...Just flip the "-" paddle a time or two and mash the gas...you're past that truck and doing 80 in what seems like a blink of an eye compared to my 328I NA engine. #2 Responsive handling...The X1 replaced a VW Golf with GTI suspension and brake modifications so we were looking to have something "flingable" to still enjoy driving in the "twisties". The X1 with the stiffer M sport suspension does the trick! Brakes could be a bit more aggressive but the handling and ride quality is top notch in our book. #3 Clean styling particularly on the M Sport version compared to other SUV's we considered. Ordered beige interior to avoid "black cave" look we have in our sedan with all black interior...looks more striking and will be cooler in the desert summers..no driving all around the lot looking for a shady space! #4 Sliding rear seat/electric seat back release!...adds a bit of leg room for us "mature" owners and friends. Plus not having to open the rear doors and drop the seat backs is really great on those Home Depot runs! |
