gym isnt the fanciest place, but it has everything i need. they just need to stop playing Top 20 hits every fn day and play some ral music

my gym keeps playing the same shit on BPM (Sirius Radio) every single day to appease the juiceheads..only so much axwell and house music u can listen to...it does get u pumped up tho....

agreed.

to add to what OP has posted. 75% drop out rate in the first 8 weeks of the year, additional 50% drop out rate in 6 months. gyms bank on this and know that many people sign up and drop out yet stay pay the fees because of the contract. these #s just amaze me... but hey if you cant handle it... and drop out... moar room at the gym for mee!

as much as i love the gym, i advocate physical activity as a whole and not just lifting weights/cardio at the gym. whatever your passion is... cycling, running, walking, gardening, etc... do it. the benefits of physical activity are numerous and the effects are both immediate and long term.

As far as I know, the high end "sports clubs" around me vary from $300-$600 a month. *facepalm*

Trust me, we try to retain members. We don't want dropouts. Gyms make bank off of a strong reputation which leads to referrals. PT is our biggest money maker.

We're not really banking on anything when it comes to dropouts. It just means we have to call them up, ask them why they decided to cancel, and see if they want to come back (only one out of every hundred will end up re-joining). We even typically offer former member deals that waive any enrollment/processing fees so it's like they're just paying their monthly rates again.

I work at a gym where the rates go from 35-65 a month.

Really nice gyms, especially the newer ones... but I was approached by an employee while I was doing deads who told me that I was not allowed to grunt or make noises. Last time I went there for weights. I do use the cardio machines there from time to time though
you shoulda looked at him dead in the face and said "not now chief, I'm in the fuckin zone"

what gym to work at? if this isnt a public corp, then perhaps your interests for public health and wellness are more genuine. when it comes to the 24 hour fitness type model, this is how they make money... new year resolutions, year long gym contracts... and what not.

The $150 is just a smaller gym with a pretty good trainer/customer ratio and theres always somebody there to help you. Teach you shit.

We've got some local ones that are who knows how much that no matter when you go in its 1:1 personal trainer. Fuck thats hit.

Give me some headphones and barbells and I'm good. I prefer iron gyms.

Lifestyles. It's corporate. 56 clubs. Not to sound like a drone for the company but we really did build our reputation on genuine care about our members (and started the month-to-month contract deal).

It depends really

The one closet to my house is a POS (5 min away)

but one about 15 min away is nice

Weights, good equipment

The one that's 30 min is bomb

But... since nowadays I barely go... the 5 min away one is more than enough
