It seems that the Hamburg Highway is being towed to the repair berth now, just a couple of hundred yards from its initial berth.

Also, its new berth is adjacent to auto storage facilities, so I wonder if the plan is to offload its cargo and reload the cars on another ship.
SOU? Anyone?

I'm curious about how these delays work. Who else cares besides us? For example, does the carrier have an agreement with BMW that limits the length of time these cars can remain undelivered, such that offloading onto another vessel would start to make sense? Any other incentives or disincentives among the relationships here that affect delivery decisions? |

Vehicles aboard the Resolve made it to the port today. Mine has made it to the VPC and is estimated to be at my dealer on the 28th. Hopeful for that date. This has been quite a journey of tracking over the last 7 months.

I thought the same thing! OK, so I Google Earth stocked our ship. With the help of VesselFinder.com I could zoom in and see which bay the Tirranna is in. From there I Google Earth satellite searched the port and zoomed in on that bay. It has a bunch of container cranes lining it and there's a HUGE parking lot with thousands of cars all neatly parked near where the ship offloads. Also, the Tirranna is backed into the berth. So, I think this all adds up to it's offloading cargo and not being repaired. Rows of container cranes would not line a repair berth. it's backed in so it can offload cars down its ramp. 50 yards away is a huge holding lot for cars that are offloaded. It all adds up to the Tirranna being in a slot that's designed for offloading cars, not for doing repairs!

He went with BSM, IIRC. He must have a car washing fetish.

Damn you Hurricane Otto! Yeah, you are totally right. I hadn't even seen there was a storm down there. I got all pissy for a moment that my car was delayed, until I saw several people in Panama died. The car can wait. I hope folks down there are OK.

For us Hamburg Highway folks, I tried Google Earth, and berth 40, which is listed as the location for the vessel as it is being repaired, shows as empty. I found it by typing Port of Southampton Berth 40 into the Google Earth search bar. It found the Port, and Berth 46. Berth 40 is nearby (below and slightly to the right), but no vessel is there. There is a cruise ship further down that dock, but nothing in Berth 40. I confess I don't know much about Google Earth, so I'm not sure how up to date that image is supposed to be. But VesselFinder.com says it's at Berth 40, as do other sources, and VesselFinder shows a yellow outline of a vessel, labeled Hamburg Highway, in Berth 40. Google Earth shows that Berth as empty.....

Thank you. That is valuable information. If they are offloading cars every week or so, I wonder how those of us who had cars on that vessel are going to know where their cars are and when those cars are going to make port somewhere??
