The fuel issue wasn't the fuel pump . They got a 'Vacuum in the fuel supply ...

The FIA said : There was enough fuel in the fuel tank .

You would assume they're at the limit that prevents porpoising from happening.
Since porpoising is high speed induced, it doesn't make sense to go faster on the straights than they are now (with more power).
I still don't agree with this fully, but I understand the perspective, and here is why I dont agree:

1) It would be gambling on 2 different fields, you would lose both down force from raising the car and top speed. That puts a huge unknown on if there is enough pace to keep up with the cars behind.

2) Porposing is a function of aero load (down force) which increases while speed increases. However porposing does not occur strictly at top speeds, it happens much earlier than that. If you look at on boards it happens maybe half way through a straight and by then the cars are probably 30ish km/hr below their top speed, and the mercs were only 10-15 km/hr slower than the fastest car. So it makes no sense to try and cut back on top speed by decreasing the power, because even now the cars are going faster than when porposing started. To stop porposing by speed reduction you would have to drop alot of speed to the point where the cars are uncompetitive - especially on a high power track.

They also have to add enough height to deal with the extra 100kg of fuel they will run at the start of the race too, because the weight of the car acts in parallel with the down force to increase porposing. So this likely means they ran enough height to deal with aero load + weight of the car + the larger wings which also increases load. So it doesn't make sense they would try to sacrifice performance on both ends by also decreasing power output to such a large extent.



So my take is they were probably running the pu on normal power output, and if they were cutting back on power it was not by much because solving porpoising by reducing power output is impossible unless you want to drop to low 200 kph top speeds.

Leclerc already showed max can be emotional and outsmarted.

Leclerc baited max by braking earlier than max enticing him to over take on the first DRS zone which allowed leclerc to take the second drs zone to retake 1st from max, and this happened more than once showing max didn't learn from his mistakes.


Leclerc also demonstrated immensely high race iq on the safety car restart when max pulled up right along side of him and leclerc initiated the restart at that exact moment because max was so off the racing line right before the corner it prevented him from getting on the power right away. This allowed leclerc to make a clean get away and compromised max so much sainz was right on him from the moment max could get on the power.

If he thought more clearly he wouldn't have overtaken charles on the first drs zone, and he wouldn't have lined up right next to leclerc compromising his racing line for the restart.

This is a hot take considering Max annihilated Charles in karting. I'm not entirely refuting it because Charles has that potential but it's too early to drop takes like that. Aggressiveness is a key trait of both Max and Charles.

Driver's continue to develop after karting........so not sure why it should be the end all be all?

Charles at the moment gives off a more skillful, intelligent and class act vibe.

Max still sounds like a spoiled brat.

I mean anything can be skewed in a short lapse of time. The "class act" is pulling for strings here - considering Max and Charles are respectful of each other. It was like when all the cry babies were calling Lewis a "class act" after years of blaming everyone but himself, handling Nico's championship like an immature baby, etc...

Did we forget Charles qualifying last season? Was he skillful and intelligent then too? They all screw up from time to time.

It sounds like your anus is still sore from Max being the champion and I'm saying that as someone who is a McLaren fan above all else, even if I like both Max and Charles a lot.

James Allison thinks they can make improvements next few races.
There are a couple good side by side comparisons of Leclerc vs Ham Q3 laps in Bahrain. Merc is good in slow and mid speed corners. I suspect with the high speed nature of Saudi GP, the gap to Ferrari could be worse.
