Unfortunately, there are two negatives. One is, you don't get the package any cheaper than if you selected a leather interior instead. So you are essentially paying for extended leather while taking cloth. And, two, you lose the heated rear seats (apparently not compatible with the cloth for some reason) and again do not get a discount on the package because of it. So essentially you are paying $4500 (or whatever the package price is) for a handful of options that should cost more like $3000 or whatever. So it's the package deal that forgot the package pricing.
What? The ordering guide is available? Will it be posted soon or did I miss it?

If true, that would be a bit disappointing that cloth will delete the butt warmers. Not a deal breaker for me though. Might consider leather now.

Since you like analogies.. what you're saying is that having some hair is somehow less work than being bald. You still need shampoo even though half your head is bald. This is exactly my point. Maintenance wise: you may as well go full leather since you aren't really getting cloth seats. You're getting a weird mix that doesn't even put cloth in the bolstering. Obviously there is no point in arguing about this, but it is important for potential customer's information.

As for the M cloth seats, what's with the jetliner references? Are you guys referring to the original E30 M3 evo seats? There's actually quite a history of awesome cloth seats with the BMW M racing colours. E30 M3, E36 M3, E34 M5, E46 M3. Wish we could still get those. Unfortunately Americans seem to associate leather with luxury. Too bad!

I have never understood the infatuation in this country for leather either. I understand that cloth seats have the ability to get trashed quickly and they definitely hold smell if the previous owner was a smoker or non hygienic. I also know that BMW is going to put a different level of cloth or speed cloth in their cars. That being said, leather has the very same ability to look like hot garbage if not maintained well. The Dakota leather in the F30 is pretty durable and maintenance free, but Merino leather is some very soft stuff which will require a good deal more love. I am getting speed cloth, but I do not think I can justify buying the exec. pack. just to get HUD. The only other option on the list that I am interested in is comfort access and I know I can live without that. I can't wait to see these seats in person! Good stuff!!

Cloth on the bolstering makes much less sense than cloth on the actual seating surfaces (...i.e...the largest surfaces are covered in cloth).

The jetliner references are made about the M-Alcantara that was available on the E46 ZCP M3's. The picture you posted for the E46 is Alcantara; the Speed Cloth looks different. Regardless of the history, the pattern still looks like an United Airlines passenger airliner seat.

Seems one brochure I had seen it said the car had cloth & leather seats but all of the beige seats seem to be full leather including the perforated centers.

I'm happy with those seats I was just thinking they were extra as most of the depicted cars have upgrades.

Beige? The standard equipment, cloth/leather combination seats only come in black. So it's no surprise you have only seen the Sonoma Beige seats in all leather.

They are definitely extra cost. If you want any color other than black (that is, beige, orange, or silver, unless you go Individual), you will have to pay extra and you'll be getting all leather seats.

Anyone find any better pics of the F80/F82 speed cloth?
From the limited pics, the new speed cloth looks good (and I think I want it), but I would prefer the head rest to be in leather like they were in the E9XM. Also, do you think the doors will be covered the same way as the previous generation?

There are no other photos at this point, and the headrests won't be leather (..as the photo from the configurator illustrates); at least not the portion that makes contact with your head. The doors will have the matching cloth inserts as far as we know.

Anxiously awaiting photos when someone finally takes delivery.

I'm either going this way or full leather. No in between for this guy.

Curious to hear people's opinions.

Getting an M235i one of these days, and considering forgoing the leather ($1,450) and getting the sensatech instead.

Assuming that I can swap in the M3/M4 Front seats (driver and passenger), how much do you think that would cost?

I was thinking maybe $1,500 for the cloth/leather, and $2,000 for the leather.

Do you think BMW will come out with Performance seats?

Anyone planning on selling their seats?
