did the Sport + entry on Bimmercode given by rice_rocket. many thanks. Only difference on my car is it will shift into 8th gear automatically or manually and stay in 8th. rice_rocket had mentioned his would only shift into 7th gear in Sport + on his Bimmer.

just wondering if someone could post the entries for Bimmercode on how to disable the engine sound piped into the speakers.

Interesting that yours will go into 8th.. try on the highway at 80 and flip it back to regular and see if the rpms drop.. this means it shifted into 8th.


A for the sound, it's ASD off which is a regular option in bimmercode, not an advanced feature.

getting back to rice_rocket on a issue with Sport Plus mode. did the driving test at 80mph. drove the car in 7th gear @ 80mph. manually shifted the car into 8th gear (M8) and it upshifted everytime and stayed there indefinetly. the tachometer dropped by 6 or 700rpm everytime I shifted into 8th gear. I can take some pics if you guys need them but the solution posted by rice_rocket works without flaws on X1/X2.

this has already be addressed on this thread so I apalogize. using Bimmercode, I can not find in any of these menu items where you can turn the engine sound off that's piped into the speakers. I thought I'd find it BDC but no and I combed through the other menu items without going into expert mode and could not find the item.

if anyone knows the entry on Bimmercode, I would be grateful for a posting.

No haha think you misunderstood what I was saying. Manually you can shift to 8, but if you're in full automatic in drive mode it will not go past 7 into 8! So basically for example i drive in sport mode all the time but it'll go into 8th gear on the highway automatically. If I use the sport plus setting it will not. In any given mode manual will work just as is.

got it. completely understand what you're saying now. I'm pretty sure when I'm in full auto mode or S mode on the shifter, it will shift into 8th. when I was on the freeway in auto and Sport Plus, the car was in 8th gear. I'll check again in full auto in Sport Plus to make sure. sorry for the confusion.

follow up for X2 shifting into 8th gear in Sport + mode. rice_rocket, thanks again for posting the Bimmercode mod for this. so as you know the car will hold onto a gear condsideralably longer in Sport Plus mode. A lot more than Sport mode. Like ridiculously longer.

Put the car into auto sport mode (S mode) while the car was in Sport Plus. At 72 - 74mph, my car was still in 5th gear. I had to jump on the gas pedal to get it to even shift into 6th gear. The tach has to be well above 3,000rpm before the car will shift into next higher gear. also if the engine is not under any load it will hold onto at least one gear lower and sometimes 2 gears lower than regular Sport mode would have. driving level ground and constant 80mph the car was still in 6th gear. you will burn a lot more gas in Sport Plus.

luckily I live close to a toll road that we famously call "the autobahn". supercars love it. I wanted to see if there was some speed or rpm the car will shift into 8th gear. I can tell you it's some silly speed that it will finally do it. More than 88mph. I was too busy watching the road ahead to see the exact speed but it's ridiculous but it does do it. It will never do it at freeway/highway speeds at least in Southern California and we drive very fast here. You will get flipped off at 65mph for driving too slow.

so in general, yes. you're not going to see 8th gear. not unless you want to go to jail but I was able to do it.

Haha I guess that completely makes sense.. never decided to push it high enough to "need" that extra gear in the sports plus mode lmao!
