Since we haven't received any fresh details after this weekend, I have sent the letter today (putted in CC line all emails available with me).
I have putted also a note that right now we have provided only 9 out of 12 VIN numbers who confirmed similar problem. So, in case if someone else wants to give his details, please give it thus I could forward in addition to our letter. Let's hope on positive reaction. Will see how and whether BMW cares about their customers... |

Shipa, I appreciate your effort regarding the letter.
Let's hope we'll succeed in our effort to push BMW to launch a service recall for this problem. If anyone involved in this letter will receive an answer from BMW, please post it here for all of us, for the community. P.S. The car listed at no.7 in the table, it's a X1 SDRIVE18D, production date 2016-06-15. |

Hello guys!
Last week I've received a message from BMW Romania, inviting me to visit the nearest dealer for a technical inspection (the message will follow down below). I have the appointment scheduled for tomorrow at 13:00. I would like to ask, for how many of you they replaced the shifter for this transmission error, under the goodwill BMW warranty ? Here is the message I received: Dear Client, Looking forward for your answers, Regards, Stefan Last edited by StefanJ; 11-18-2019 at 09:19 AM.. |

Hi Everyone, nice reading this post. I am from Hong Kong.
I have a Mini Countryman F60 which I think it's sharing the same based as X1. I am experiencing the exact same problem as everyone else here. I am not sure if you guys can give me a hands on your claim letter to BMW. I have went into one of the local BMW specialist and found that X1 and Countryman F60 gearbox are the same. He quoted me approximately USD 1000 for replacement the selector lever interlock (I believe it's the gearbox). I would like to know if my understanding is right about the same gearbox that we can file an international claim together. |

Hello everyone!
Would like to confirm that after my visit to BMW service, my vehicle gearbox mechanism was duly replaced by BMW Godwill (Kulanz) program. I have only paid the cost for diagnostic of the problem. Also, would like to draw attention that in my case BMW replaced the mechanism of geabox and not the complete shifter. The number is 25168483098 and the cost of this part is around 500USD. Problem is solved - no errors. ftcalbert Unfortunately we have sent already our claim letter to BMW in the begining of October. I would recommend you first to visit your official service and ask for replacement as per Godwill. If needed, I could give you a copy of the letter we've sent via email. Trust it will help |

Hi everybody,
I'm also experiencing the same problem in my vehicle. I've contacted my local dealer in Portugal, but they decline any help, as it is already out of warranty (production date is 12/2016). Can someone send me a copy of the letter sent to BMW Germany, so that I can also report to them and appeal to "Goodwill"? Thanks in advance. P.S. Any more success cases on BMW "Goodwill"? |

Hi All,
I am having the same issue on my SDrive20D. Just been in for an inspection and I have been quoted ZAR130000 to replace the entire shifter and assembly. The vehicle is out of BMW warranty, and I have 3rd party extended warranty. However, they have denied my claim, as the part required is not "part of the transmission". Anyone else had any success in South Africa with Goodwill Warranty or recalls? Is there still a list I can add my details onto so we can get the part recalled globally? Cheers, Jimbo. |

I had the same problem on my 2016 x1 25d M sport, and I'm not sure if it's the same part that is causing the problem, but the garage narrowed it down to a gear selector control module. It was just under £1000 to repair but it was covered under warranty. The invoice says B25.16.8.483.098 163535/Gearshift S for the part.

I have noticed a similar problem during the test drive of a used BMW X1 xdrive 2.0d from 10/2016. Fortunately, I have not taken reception of the car and (my spouse!) have noticed the problem. I'll pass on the VIN number to Shipa.
