I think the design is overall very good on the exterior. The brown interior with the matte wood is very nice and high quality looking! The steering wheel looks to be genuine nice leather inline the shit standard wheels in the current range of BMW, the standard steering wheel in all Mercedes and audis are great to touch but all the ones in the 3 series feel like total garbage unless it's an Msport wheel. This looks to be a high improvement in perceived quality

Wow! Not a fan of SUVs, but I love it. It's a significant improvement over the previous model!
BTW, time to update the cover photo for F48 forums, now that we know what it looks like.

I was just about to pull the trigger on a 2015 X1 for the wife. This one is soooo much better and satisfies my biggest concern, the rear leg room. So glad I didn't pull the trigger (or that the dealer low balled my trade in).

more FWD blahblah...
I think some people should shut up about this FWD blahblah and consider the car for what it is. IMO it's a great looking little crossover that will definitely do very well in the category it is competing...
This discussion about BMW losing its soul is getting long in the tooth: they have to make best selling models such as these in order to finance their M cars and the previous X1 was compromised by its RWD architecture with a small cabin space. Most buyers of the new X1 care less about it being FWD (heck, they can have it AWD if they want too) than being practical and driving great. And from the reviews of all released models based on this platform (Active Tourer, new Mini), it drives fantastic, even in FWD. I personally love my E21 323i and her (sometimes lairy) RWD chassis, but I wouldn't mind having the new X1 and the day to day practicality and safety it offers. By the way, the Renaul Sports Megane 275 is a FWD and will embarrass many BMWs on a track or back roads. So get over it!

All the more reason to get rid of our 2013 X1. This one looks loads better and hopefully drives better than the '13 xDrive28i. Resale value on the '13 is a joke and now it will only worsen.

I think it looks great! Certainly a more premium competitor to Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4.
Probably gonna take away a lot of sales from the F25 X3 for the next 2 years. But I'm sure it makes more sense to a lot of folks than the x28i X3. The F48 will have better mpg, better price, and the interior room seems comparable. |

I was lamenting the fact that I let the 2015 get away as I would love euro delivery. As sharp as this model looks I may just wait for the M2 and see if it's not much of an improvement over my 1M ... So far the M2 looks to be an excellent " remix " of the original ( nothing wrong with that, they could already sell 2000 of them a year ) but not revolutionary, and if that turns out to be the case, I might just go euro delivery with an X1 to replace my aging gas guzzling Buspediton rather than an M2! |

This is way better than the previous one ... Lines of the car are just right not like the previous where you feel something wrong about the design ... The interior is ok too ... And by the way who buys an x car that is not xDrive

The current X1 was a very polarizing car. I personally love it for its unique character and near-awkward proportions. Still one of the last great BMW drives in the fleet.
I'll hold final judgment until I see it and drive it but the following suggest picking up a late-model E84 or keep what you've got. - FWD bias - down on power - taller - shorter wheelbase (it's already a tad edgy at speed) - no ZF - it looks like every other X vehicle and shares some Hyundai lines in the rear 1/3 This is clearly a market segment move, the modern way of this brand. Gone is the unique, sporty niche vehicle, in comes the mass appeal. Offerings like this make my eyes wander to other brands. If that's all I get, mine as well look at (insert other lux brand). Where previously, nothing else compared. But I'm the minority. I recognize there are far more people who previously thought the X1 was an ugly shoe on wheels who will now pay some attention. |
