There are German m235i guys on a german forum who have installed the M2 MP c/o's on their passively damped cars - implies M2 and Mx35i suspensions are interchangeable....

these are actually kw v2 with different paint. and they cost almost the same as a normal kw v3 kit. so the question is, do you pay more just to have an oem bmw part, or do you get the v3's.

You pay more for the warranty and support direct from BMW. I rode in a car equipped with them (Phil's from DetailersDomain) and they rode essentially just like stock. You can't beat that. I've had some (anecdotal) bad experiences with suspension that wasn't OEM but using the same parts as OEM suspension and it never rode as well. BMW has a different set of tolerances than a generic KW set in terms of ride quality and performance.

No, it's a V3. 3-way: height, shock (?), rebound (?) <- Don't know the correct English terms, sorry. But it has different springs than the "normal" V3 and you can't adjust it as low as the V3.

I thing these are the default settings, the question was more about recommended setting for different circumstances (if i got it right, that is).
At least I'm interested in that as well as if anybody have tested for example default, softest and hardest on same track. |

@Robban, thanks!
@aerobat, you're correct in that I was interested in the different settings, but it's good to see they at least provide a baseline.

Am I right in thinking all I need to take from the stock front shock tower is the support guide and dust boot?

Essentially yes - heres a link to PDF of MPS install - in German ! http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...r+instructions It says to re-use front strut dust boots. Are you thinking of upgrading ? Have you sourced the kit at a good price ? If so PM as I'm sniffing to do the same... BP

Can anyone confirm that have had the M performance suspension dealer installed if they applied a sticker similar to this (screen grab from the M4 forum). Just wondering if the sticker came with the parts since I don't have one applied to the car or with the returned stock suspension. TIA.

I'm curious if the M-P use a progressive or liner spring? Also I am pretty sure M-P parts only carry a 2 year BMW warranty if purchased thru a dealer or authorized installation location. Not a 4 year like the car.....same as their exhausts.
At the cost savings "new" not used it seems like a good way to go as long as you are not looking for anything over a 1in drop The last thing I am curious about is in that picture looking at the rear damper design I am curious how they are effectively using a non adjustable damper efficiently unlike Ohlins, BC Racing, and some others that have a height adjustable damper set up in the rear. Comments, confirmations? Last edited by horsepower_and_hounds; 11-05-2017 at 07:25 AM.. |

As for the rears, they are double adjustable. The rebound is just below the upper mounts and the compression is right above the lower ball joint.

When ordered with car order, theses are port installed, and you get the sticker. On my Performance Edition there was the addition of aluminum spacers, held in place by a tamper proof set screw. I haven't seen much mentioned about these, and they apparently are not part of the M Performance suspension if you order it from your parts department or independent vendor. These spacers serve no purpose other than making it a pain in the ass to lower your car. The good news is they do say M Performance on them. I had to take a dremel to slot the set screw, which was then easy to back out. To remove them you must pull the rear springs, and the front struts. The front struts need to be partially disassembled to remove them, I just cranked on the adjusting ring and pushed the ring downward.

Thanks for the responses about the sticker coming with the suspension. So I went back down to the dealership and inquired about it and everyone seemed clueless but to my SA's credit he went and asked the service tech anyway and came back with the sticker in hand. A sticker may not sound like a big deal but I was determined to get it.

Roughly half way through the article they mention the warranty matches your new car warranty or 2 years (whichever is greater). Not sure how up to date this article is though... EDIT: Should also mention that it says the 4 year warranty applies if it is installed at a dealership. In case anyone didn't know, there are some sick black friday deals going on right now - I'm looking at m perf coilovers for $1900, which would probably make it a solid buy?
