Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die. Mary Elizabeth Frye |

Very sorry you lost your buddy.
I had just spent about 45 min writing out the story of how we lost our American Bull Dog and what helped us recover from it. But then had a power surge and when the page reloaded, everything i typed was gone. I did post some about it here when it happened, though not in great detail. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=752081 And this provides some light on how we got through the pain so quickly. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851226 We ended up getting an 8 week old puppy 9 days after we put Bo down. Did not plan it at all. Actually planned on waiting about 6 months or so. But circumstances of Bosley's arrival, how he became available to us and where he was located pushed us to pick him up, so we did. The thought of getting a new puppy 1 week after my faithful bro passed away gave me an uneasy feeling to say the least. But the circumstances just felt too right to ignore. Wasn't sure what to expect as this would be my second dog. But it seems the more i love Bosley, the more apparent my love for Bo was as well. It's been great to see the breed similarities along with the differences in individual personality. I didn't get over the loss of Bo any faster, i didn't ever forget about him. (i actually buried him in my back yard and have a 100 pound white quartz stone marking his grave) I don't love one more than the other either. But what DID happen was having a new puppy to take care of, train, care for, have fun with, etc... kept me from dwelling on the sadness of losing Bo. Instead, when Bosley would do something that reminded me of Bo, it would make me smile. Ok, for the first few weeks, sometimes a smile would turn to tears, but after some more time it slowed down to a tear here and there. Like when i read your OP in this thread for instance. I don't know if that course of action is right or works for everyone. But unexpectedly, it worked perfectly for me. In time, every time you think of Bowser, it'll bring you joy instead of sadness. Take care and keep your chin up; Bowser would want you to be happy.

Best wishes bro.

I'm sure Blwser has helped you through a lot and I'm sure Bowser is also thankful you took care of him, but somewhere out there there is a dog in a shelter than needs help too and can therapeutically help you too, he's not a replacement but just someone new in your life to help you out and vice versa |

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1010588&page=5 I recommend reading through this whole thread, not just the page i posted. As stupid as it sounds, the support we gain from a forum is often easier to process than those who are close to us in real life. Again, i am truly sorry for your loss. The pain will fade and the good memories never do, they just need a bit of time to push through after the grief.. Anna

Powerful story and I'm sorry to hear about your loss.
I know the pain; I've actually lost all 3 of my dogs within the last 3 years...two to disease/illness and the third one went missing and was never found. The important thing is the relationships you shared between you and your friends were genuine and mutual. If you enriched their lives every bit as much as they enriched yours, then you can be rest-assured that even though they're gone, they're in a better place. I loved every single one of my dogs. I'll always be a dog guy. Miss them so much.

My little buddy just turned 4 yesterday. I know the time when we must part will eventually come and it sad to think about so I just make sure to enjoy the time I have w/ him. As odd as it may be, I actually like the premise in The Art of Driving in the Rain so I make sure Tobi has a good, fulfilling life (the spoiled little bastard....lol).

So sorry for your loss. I feel your pain. My wife and I had to make the same difficult decision yesterday and lost our precious Patches who was suffering following congestive heart failure right before Hurricane Irma. It hurts so much I can't stand it.

Sorry for your loss, it very much sucks. Lost my buddy three years ago and still think about him daily (in a good way). Harley had been in a no kill shelter for 18 months before we found him. Cattle dog, very smart, loyal. Damn he loved us so for getting him out. A month after he died we went to the pound and found another abandoned cattle dog who needed someone. These days, when I get home at night he's waiting in the driveway with his ball..didn't replace Har but it helps. Believe Bowser would want you to have another buddy. Best to you.

Sorry Rick . Damn, thats a terrible disease. Not a damn thing we could do about it when ours was stricken. Time does help some.

Damn dude...I never understood how people can be in love with animals until I my wife and I got a puppy. It's been a year and I actually care about his wellbeing more than mine. They become kids quickly!
