We're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 8:00 PM. My home lightning sensors are sending alerts for storms about 20 miles out. You can take it to the back that they will be arriving where I work at exactly Yabba Dabba Dooo time.....

This system, as I write this is already moving away at a rapid pace. Intense but of short duration.

I'm feeling for all of you with the intense heat. The local weatherman said last night on the news that we -- Portland, Oregon and the Willamette Valley stretching south a hundred-plus miles -- may be having the nicest weather in the USA right now. Highs around 80 all week with delightfully cool mornings. Perfect summer weather!

Our weather yesterday and today was freaking awesome, with highs in the upper 70's F and lows in the mid-50's F. Nice cool breeze from the north, both refreshing and without Canadian wildfire smoke. More of the same for most of the week. I'm not complaining...and even considering shutting the central AC off and opening the windows at night.....

Ours is cooling down this week to mid to low 90s but the humidity is supposed to be picking up so not muck of a comfortable trade off. Then the following week back to upper 90s and triple digits.

Hottest day both at coast and home yesterday, and monsoonal!
When I walked out of work around 3:30, I got hit in the face with warmth/wetness. Jumped in truck and it read 80 - AT THE BEACH! Got home and it had moved up to 87, but a slight decrease in humidity. Rode the motorcycle to work this morning before dawn in just a polo and vest, 68 when I left the house. Moisture is moving east and temps cooling. 71 and sunny at the beach right now. Our electric bill has gone from $100-400. Good thing we put in that A/C last fall Might be time to entertain one or more solar companies.

Nothing much to report...
In the UK right now we are having heavy rains, not monsoons, and not more than 1" per hour.
We had 100f+ temperatures for a few days in June. Maybe 15f last winter in norther Scotland. We had 2 hurricane force storms in recorded history, once in 1703, and again in 1987. So we just don't get anything like the weather extremes that can hit North America, not to mention much of the rest of the world, but nobody can beat the Brits when it comes to whining about bad weather!
