in 2026 the cars are due for 50% electric power and at GRO's crash time it was 20% electric. We've seen the effects of lithium ion batteries erupting but if a similar occurrence happened with the far higher temps associated with larger Li batteries in 2026 onwards I fear for the drivers lives.

Good to see Sargeant get a chance to make it in F1. An American in F1 is not a bad thing even if most folks in America have no idea who he is yet.
A bit surprised to be honest. But I guess there is value to F1 to have an American on the grid. Performance wise he was definitely in the bottom 1/4 of the grid last year. Regardless of car he was driving.

Would put him in mid-80's going into 2026. Less than 20 from having all-time wins lead.

Two more years of RB contract left for Max from then with Ford PU's coming in.
Will be interesting how the team performs with them but the signs look good.

Can you imagine what the cars will weigh in 2026? Pirelli softs will be recycled hockey pucks. It is possible to get me to lose interest in Formula One. Considering that the EV thing is starting to circle the bowl in US and Europe I expect this to be revised. If not, WEC and Indy car will do just fine for me.

Larger and I'd say 20% heavier at a guess. Tyres will have to be heavier to take the weight of these, meaning slower lap times and longer braking distances with heavier wear on components.

The 2026 cars will sound like my expresso machine . And they will drive like fat pigs with these heavy batteries ..

Well a couple of days ago , I've read an interesting article .
The Ford PU , won't be a PU . Ford will supply Red Bull with the electric power storage units and the necessary batteries.
The 2026 Red Bull PU , the ICE will be the same but run with cleaner (green)! Ethanol fuel .
In others words : With a huge % of Ethanol and that won't be easy , to make power .
I heard rumors about a 2026/4 cylinder PU . The power will be 50% ICE and 50% Electric.
500 HP from the ICE and 500 HP will be electric . 50/50
The base of the 2026 ICE PU will be still like the current HONDA PU ,minus 2 cylinders, but much further developed to run with the cleaner 2026 ICE regulations .

BTW : Ethanol is very well known like poison for ICE's..
Ethanol is actually a moisture absorber !

Can't wait to see the steamy exhausts !

Ethanol not good for BMW M cars especially, remember my search to find the best fuel for our cars and how to test for ethanol...

With all that steam car 1 shouldn't have any problems keeping in front of the pack in '26 but pity the lads behind looking where to go

For 2024 the engines receive a hybrid electric motor and will continue to burn the Shell 100% renewable race fuel.
If Indycar can do it...so can F1.
