Sly & The Family Stone - Thank You
He names his own songs in the lyrics: "Dance to the music All night long Everyday people Sing a simple song" "You can make it if you try" This song really gets me going. Been played here before, will be played again.

The Beatles - Words of Love
This song has been in my head for 59 years (and it is most welcome to stay.)

[QUOTE=Llarry;30858327]The Beatles - Words of Love
This song has been in my head for 59 years (and it is most welcome to stay.) It's probably a good time to say this is arguably my fave from the Fab 4. The album Beatles 1 is great and should be in everyones collection. |

This one goes back as far as I can remember; my parents -- both smokers -- sent in proofs of purchase or something and got an LP record from one of the tobacco companies. On it was this Louis Armstrong tune. Many years later I learned that it had been recorded in 1929, during a brief period in which "Satchmo" had a big band. The trumpet work in this recording is incredible. Perhaps 25 years ago, I managed to find this recording on a CD, but 10-15 years ago I mishandled it putting it in or taking it out of the CD player and put a huge scratch in just the track I treasured. The CD is no longer available.

I played trumpet when I was a teenager and was pretty good. Didn’t stay with it because someone nicked my trumpet from my school locker and that was it for me. Just lost interest after that.
Louis Armstrong was, and still is, one of my idols.

Fundamentally we're all here for automobiles, yes? (I am not aware of any BMW-centric music; in those days, BMWs were an odd little German sedan that could embarrass big American iron on a twisty road.) There sure were a lot of pop car songs in the early 1960s, and I loved them.

A favorite trumpet player of mine when I was a kid.
Al Hirt - The Green Hornet Theme Played before here but since we're talking about trumpet players, thought it was relevant to play again.

Man this song hits close, sadly it's the way I feel I treat my wife sometimes. Trying to get better but man it's a hard journey.
