The other log running a 1-2psi additive looks good. I'd drop Terry an email if you're working with him and ask him to check your boost scaling in the app. I see some indication the app may be reporting more boost than you're actually running here. |

Thanks for the quick look.. I thought the boost safety was only applied for the custom map6, not globally. So both map 1 and map 2 hit way past it.. but the map6 with a +1 boost value manages to stay right at that 27 threshold which sounds fair. But again, if I remove that plug, then that 27psi limit no longer is applied (and I can't get any datalogging).

Fuel-It! I cannot connect the app to the car using the OBDII port, rather can only connect using the BT app, but that gives me an extremely limited range of what I can and cannot do - I can change the map and it displays the map and that's it.
I was told that version 18 of the firmware would protect the car in the event that the failsafe threshold is surpassed, although I don't have either version 17 or 18 of the firmware as I have the CARB version. Please take a look at what I am running and let me know please, as you seem to be connected to BMS in some way, if the firmware I am running will protect me should I decide to run map 2 and trigger the failsafe parameters as for whatever reason unbeknownst to me my OBDII cable is not at all working, although the OBDII port itself is as I can connect to bimmercode quite easily. While the image below states that I am set to map 2, I am currently set to map 1 as I don't trust the software alone without confirmation from someone who knows what the hell CARB version this is will do once I reach unsafe parameters. Thanks in advance!

okay, question - so when i'm logging, how long am i supposed to log for as i've been asked to log using map 1 by BMS as my OBDII cord isn't working at all to connect the unit, the car, and the app...?

Main thing though is to contact BMS for support. I just happened to be passing through here, but this is all straight forward stuff. |

Sorry what do you mean by that? You can't load my log.. or can't see anything? You do need it as a regular CSV file but what I posted was a zipped folder (in order to post it).
Fuel-it! Just posted a screenshot of my map2 log further up. |

Back to map 0 to be safe since everything got rescrambled in the firmware attempt. Map 0 feels fine on the highway, but pretty sluggish going up my parking garage ramps. I have been so used to map 6 now I can tell the difference. Map2 still is a ton nicer, we just have to figure out the right combo to make this JB4 work!. Xcelir8BMW I hope your TDI maps work.. but at the same time I would love you to start playing with this JB4 I'm most curious how the regular driving behavior will be. |

bam! my problem is solved - failsafe is in place, firmware is updated, car is running fantastically! convoluted solution to a rather simple problem, but it was solved nonetheless. woo hoo!
bms wants me to log in map1 to see where my car stands, but i don't quite understand why as my car should respond exactly the way every other car with this engine stands using map1. i mean, i'll do it, but i don't quite get why.

Why do doctors make you take a physical every year when most people are just fine and not going to keel over anytime soon?

welp, you have the jb4, don't you? because you don't have to worry about a limitless amount of boost blowing up your engine if you install the jb4 unit.

yes, it surely is. i was not going anywhere without that failsafe mechanism in place. totally a backup as i have v 18 of the firmware now installed which in itself will prevent boost spikes like you're experiencing, but peace of mind nonetheless.

Limitless? Huh? I have, for now, 7 modes of max which has a ceiling programmed not to go above it. And spikes I have are not bad and predictable. It is all about the tooling and what reads and compares to what. In stock mode I challenge you if the JB4 can do it to see what instrumentation it reads versus actual vacuum tap.
