M35i downpipe

Has anyone added a downpipe to their m35i B48? I went for a drive in my mates supra with the b58 with downpipe and you can really hear that turbo noise. His only engine mod is a downpipe so I’m wondering if it would have the same affect the B48 car?

I considered it but am a little bit lazy and budget oriented for the kids. I was thinking of changing the mid pipe first due to ease of doing it myself etc. I only know one person that did it and said it was double the exhaust noise and seemed to increase the boost naturally. No word on turbo noise .. but it should increase that. I'm in to hear if anyone is planning on doing it..

Seems to me an intake would provide more audible turbo noises than a DP?

The intake swap on the m35i doesn't really make more noise unfortunately. I'm thinking it's because of this internal wastegate design that's for this year/model. Even on our 2016 X1 all the turbo noises and flutters are much more noticeable than the m35i.

Usually when you get rid of the stuff in the downpipes/exhaust that's where you can hear the spool from the other end though...

I have an intake and it’s not a huge difference but you definitely hear more turbo induction noises. Well worth it for the price IMHO.

You’ll get more exhaust noise for sure with a downpipe but you won’t hear much spool, don’t think so at least. Not with these little turbos. Happy to be proven wrong just what I’m thinking.
