BMW software update

Hi! I have a 2017 X1 and attempting to update [via USB] to the latest BMW software version, but the software portal [https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html] does not seem to be available, or allow it now.

Any other options available, other than going to the dealership? Is it downloadable from another website?

Glad I found this post! Have 2 BMW F48 and F25 both needs a software upgrade and finding links to DIY have been difficult till I found this forum all BMW. Grateful!
