Excited and then gutted.

Picked up our new 2017 2.0l m petrol x1 today. A real nice experience and not long after whilst driving home I heard a sound similar to a police siren. Straight after a drivetrain error appeared.
Error stated that I could continue my journey but needed to get it check out and full performance wasn’t available

Needless to say I will contact the dealer tomorrow but it’s fairly took the shine off the day.

Hopefully it’s something simple.

when i got my x1 a few yrs back, within 24 hrs, i had a CEL. Thankfully, i took the car back and dealer fixed it free of charge since it was their screw up by putting the wrong gas in (regular instead of premium), but i feel your pain of being excited then gutted but in the end, it all worked out.

good luck!

Well that stinks. Hopefully it is something simple... had that come up on my wife's X1 after I had done a lot of engine work on it. Just missed a hose and an electrical connection on the underside of the intake,

Thanks chaps. It’s booked into the garage tomorrow and a hire car being provided.

I revved it today whilst parked up and there is a loud wooo noise 😂. It’s like the first half of a police siren.

So it went to the dealers garage who admitted they didn’t have a clue!

Now booked into the BMW dealer to fix it.

However the booking is over a week away so they have loaned me a 24 Reg Skoda sporty thing to get about in till the X1 is properly fixed.

Interestingly, I never had any issue with regular gas. The only reason I am using premium now is it seems to have better performance and mileage.

Update- Car went into the BMW dealership and they have reported back that it needs a new turbo fitted.

BMW talking to the dealership that I purchased from and soon as everything is agreed a turbo will be ordered from Germany! Apparently another 10 days to wait.

I’m counting my blessings that it happened whilst in warranty!

After many weeks of waiting it’s all fixed. I can finally drive the car. New turbo fitted and it’s running as it should.

And it’s back with the dealer ! Engine management light came on.

Dealer phoned saying the codes indicated a lean mixture fault.

It’s now being taken to the BMW dealer to fix !
