Help! Sticky residue on door handle
My new to me F80 has extended leather and there’s some sticky residue on the driver side interior door handle. I’ve tried using p&s interior cleaner, rubbing alcohol and even WD 40 to try to get it off but nothing is working. Anyone encounter this before?

Common on the f30 and f80. I bought some cheap covers here: https://a.co/d/aVCjmvq
They look a little tacky imo but it’s better than the sticky feeling. Only other option is replacing the door handles I believe |

The rubber soft touch coating deteriorates and becomes sticky. It might have to do with heat during the summer or oils and other chemicals found on the hands.
I've tried replacing it with a new one from BMW but it gets sticky again and i dont even touch it. I use the door panel pocket as handles now. I bought a set of black plastic replacement handles from amazon and plan to replace all the doors with it. Theres DIY videos on the process. It involves removing the door panels. |
