Why are the forums down EVERY SINGLE DAY at 2AM like clockwork?!

Do you really need to do that much maintenance or do you just take them down for some silly pre-2010 like security measures? 🙄🤣

it's the time they do the daily maintainence backups.

It's more irritating in the UK, as it's as 7am, the time I like to do my browsing with my coffee + breakfast before work !

Probably scheduled automated maintenance related to the database is my guess or refresh the webserver to prevent it from melting down because it's so old.

Is it 1999 or some shit? Why do you have to bring down the forum engine to do a flat file backup? Pretty sure options exist now to be able to do live backups without taking everything down. Is this place run out of a basement or something?

Daily backups with massive database forums strain the server and send the domain in maintenance mode. It happens in all major phpbb forums with large databases.

It only lasts for a few minutes anyway so like with all good things life, one just needs to be patient.
