Explain the method? maybe only upgrading NBT evo with new disk installed, it format the new hard disk , make partitions and folders? or connecting via ssh and launch create_hdd.sh?

It seemed to boot up fine, bluetooth appears to be working, but navigation was stuck at loading. So I figured I'd load the map via USB, plugged it in and nothing happened. Tried a media USB, nothing happened. Pulled the hard disk out again and looked at it in QNX. It's not locked, but the partition table is trashed and fdisk in QNX can't fix it. So it looks like this disk is toast. Before I go ruin another disk trying again, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

You have to create all dirs on two of the partitions to get navi working.

After script execution, go to the file explorer end create directories:

####### here is part of the script... With #df -h command you can see mount points of the partitions...

!Do not execute these commands, they are just for example!

mount –t qnx6 –o ro /dev/umass0t177 /mnt/data

mount –t qnx6 –o rw /dev/umass0t178 /mnt/share

mkdir /mnt/data/car

mkdir /mnt/data/conn

mkdir /mnt/data/hmi

mkdir /mnt/data/mm

mkdir /mnt/data/nav

mkdir /mnt/data/speech

mkdir /mnt/data/sys

mkdir /mnt/share/car

mkdir /mnt/share/conn

mkdir /mnt/share/hmi

mkdir /mnt/share/mm

mkdir /mnt/share/nav

mkdir /mnt/share/speech

mkdir /mnt/share/sys

Now you have to unlock the HDD with instruction above (DLC BOOT 2022) and then create the partitions with QNX.

Hey Guys, has anyone ever checked the drive in QNX? What I mean is, I have run the script and I have created the drive manually. Everything looks fine once I am finished. If I close QNX and reopen it, check df -h and fdisk, the dormat in fdisk looks right but df -h looks all kinds of wrong. I haven't installed it in the unit yet because I just wanted to know if what I'm seeing is right.

I have attached the images of after running the script then after rebooting QNX. Thanks for any insights. The two screens displaying df -h results differ after reboot.

Reviving the thread as I'm fortunate enough to stumble upon here after using the stupid AC vent foam cleaner as many others have and killed the my HDD. I'd highly recommend the PNY CS900 250GB SSD if you have NBT EVO. I tried a MSI SSD before but wasn't compatible.

Huge shoutout to Steve Ma from codemybimmer, he formatted the SSD in no time and showed me how to reinstall map files. Reach out to him if you're so technically inclined to mess around with QNX.

Hey guys!
This procedure works on an NBT HU, isn't it the EVO? Thank you everyone, I managed to do all the script procedures without errors, but maps, USB sticks, music via Bluetooth don't work.

NBT hard drive doesnt work properly!

Hey guys!
Sorry for this late reply to this thread.
The hard drive started clicking on my 2015 X5 and I lost DVD, Bluetooth streaming, navigation, and USB functionality. I don't wanna buy a replacement HU since where I live they are extremely expensive and hard to find. Is there a way any of you can help me restore those functionalities? I have the replacement hard drive on order but do not have any experience with this kind of stuff whatsoever.

Thanks in advance!

From our experience, NBTs are very picky about the type of drive and we've only been successful using the Toshiba MQ non SSD type drives.

NBT EVO on the other hand is more friendly with SSDs and we've been able to use PNY, Western Digital and many others.
