Timing Chain Letter from Dealer
Hi All,
Looking for some feedback for a colleague that has a 2015 X1 with 75k miles. He got this email from his dealership. Just wanted to know if anyone has received this. Has anyone actually replaced a timing chain on an X1 and what was the circumstances. Is the dealer trying to just drum up business. Let me know your thoughts. The letter is below. I took the dealer's name out. Not bad mouthing anyone - lol From BMW. Hello valued customer, if your vehicle was produced between 2011 – 2017 and powered by BMW’s 4 cylinder Turbo engine (N20,N26) you should consider replacement of the timing chain as a scheduled maintenance service by 100,000 Miles. A failed timing chain will likely cause catastrophic engine damage and could leave you stranded on the side of the road. BMW of XXXX has created this new program for your vehicle and completes this repair for far less than the competition while using BMW original parts |
