Hi guys,
out of curiosity I went to check if there is a recall for my car. To my suprise there is but no letter was sent to notify me, so it is a bit disappointing. Any idea what this recall is about? My car is now booked in with BMW. Thanks |

Yes, I too checked the BMW site last week and saw there was an active recall.
I called the service centre and was advised what the previous poster stated. It was a recall for the EGR cooler. Apparently they want the car for the whole day to fit the item. I wondered about if the EGR valve would be replaced too. Research on other models with the same B47 engine seemed to suggest that it would be, as the cooler has a different design that will not mate to the existing valve. However, I can not be 100% certain. Hope this helps! |

I have a 1.8 2016 M sport F48. My friend has the 2.3 version.
We have both had recall letters for an enhancement for the DDE Control Unit. This related to the EGR Cooler. This was done for me by Partridge BMW of Hampshire. Took most of the day apparently. |

Shortly after the recall for EGR Cooler software I experienced the delight of the Power Train problem message and switch to "get you home' mode.
A visit to BMW obtained the diagnosis that the Auto gearbox needed replacement. £8500plus VAT plus fitting for a 2016 motor with just 60K miles! BMW response - Unfortunately, you did not buy car from us and don't have BMW Warranty!! Final disaster - the gearbox specialist has diagnosed problem to be worn 3rd gear clutch and therefore my alternative warranty may rule issue as 'Wear and Tear' ie not covered. Not a great Ad for BMW longevity. Are there anymore of you out there with this problem? |

I ran my 2016 F48 through the recall checker and apparently I have an “open technical enhancement” , code 0011210700.
Anyone else had this for their F48? |

I have received your online enquiry about your recent notification from BMW regarding a recall due on your vehicle. I have checked and there is one outstanding on your vehicle for the replacement of the exhaust gas recirculation cooler.
We would require your car to come into the workshop, our technician would do a once over of the EGR cooler following all instructions and from there decide if the car requires a replacement or whether your vehicle is ok. This is something that BMW have just released on certain cars, and it is assumed that if the EGR doesn't require replacement now, it potentially might in 2024. |

I had my car checked by BMW Cambridge for the Enhancement codes 0011290700, 0013730300. It took a day, but I'm pretty sure that they didn't change any part (like EGR cooler). They probably just made a software update, as everything had been reset when I collected the car.

To my knowledge BMW always supply free courtesy cars for recalls.
Last recall I got a week old 1 series which I really liked. Got a courtesy car booked for this one as well. |

Hey Guys,
Long one. Hoping you could advise on what you think.... I've not had any letter regarding this recall, however I can see that my F48 is due one. I broke down last week with the drivetrain warning (red) and got taken to a local garage at 11:30pm... due to it being so late I didn't take it to BMW as they sometimes reject without prior agreement. I was told by the tech at the local garage my inlet manifold had a huge burnt hole in it and possibly caused due to the EGR Value. He replaced the inlet with a genuine £800 BMW part and retested. The car ran smoother, but still limped and the diagnostics have led then to 99% certainty that its the EGR Value. I then googled the price and seen this forum and an online post about the recall. My question to you guys is, should they be footing the bill for the initial part fix, with them, then taking over the rest of the job? I did call BMW and asked them specifically about the type of issue im having, but quoted me £150 to diagnose and £140 for getting my car to them due to it not being safe to drive. Nothing about a recall. I'll be the best part of £2k down, which I feel could have been avoided. Edit: I want to add, that I will be speaking with BMW Monday again but they are closed until then and stressing over it.... Cheers! Last edited by RuggedToyBoy; 08-05-2023 at 08:30 AM..
