135/90 x 17 is the size of the space saver temporary tyre that is on BMW's OEM spare wheel

I don’t know about the UK. But in the US M Sports have the exact same brakes as the X Lines. And you can absolutely use a space saver spare tire I have done it. If you research and it calls for the same brake pads on non M Sport I doubt you would have any problems. No matter what BMW is telling you. On my 335 the optional M Sport brakes were bigger than the regular brakes. But I even used a space saver on it I just had to use a spacer to clear the calipers.

Front calipers are bigger and Space saver would catch.
From BMW Uk Good afternoon Graham Thanks for getting back in touch. I have checked your vehicle specifications and it shows that you have the M Sport braking system and this option is not compatible with the Space Saver storage. I hope that this has answered your query but if I could be of any further assistance, please get back in touch. I'm about to do a cross country move and realized I should probably have a spare tire. I looked online for kits and found some ridiculous prices:
dealer $680 (just wheel and tire) ModernSpare $415 with shipping BimmerZone $396 with free shipping sourced all the parts myself for under $240 including taxes and shipping wheel $66.56 ECS tuning https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...l/36116851507/ tire $98.61 TireRack https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...rtnum=39R7KHV2 jack $24.97 Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 wrench $26.17 Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ace-2093936695 tote bag $12.69 Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 rubber stem valve including mounting the tire $6.91 at Firestone I have a bunch of other stuff in the space next to the tire so it doesn't move around even with spirited driving hope this is helpful to others looking to do the same and save some $$$

Mercedes spare wheel
Quote:
Example (just the wheel, not the tire due the size): https://www.ebay.ca/itm/07-11-Merced...AAAOSwDHNfA101 I am not expert, but I Google it, the CB is 66.6mm and it's 5x112. It should be fine on these aspects. The things that I am not sure is the offset to have enough room for the brakes. It's hard to say, but with the picture, the wheel shape seems to consider bigger brakes because it was for an AMG model. The last thing is Mercedes seems to be ball/spherical seat. It will need a washer to convert to conical or M14x1.25 ball seat, not 1.5. |

X1 jack
Thanks for posting the parts and $.
Question. The cheap jack available like Amazon dont align with jack pads on X1.Are you planning on using a body jack point instead? Quote:

For spare tire changes in roadside scenario, I would not use the center jack points with a scissor jack. Would be dangerous and there's a high risk the car will slip off. Definitely much safer to use the jack pad points in line with the wheels.
If you want to get a non-BMW scissor jack, there are options where the jack's saddle will fit into the car's rectangular jack pad. Measure the opening on the jack pad and compare to the scissor jack's saddle before buying. I think Harbor Freight's scissor jack is a good alternative, but confirm saddle size first. |

when I ordered my 2020 X1 I specifically asked for non-runflats and added the space saver spare option for $150. non-runflats will save me couple hundred dollars when I need to replace them in the future, and $150 spare tire kit is worth the investment... but I do miss the storage room that is now occupied by the spare tire...

I am still looking, but if I end up to use MB spare wheel, I'll share the information. The reason is I would like to go with 155/70R19 spare wheel versus the 135/80R18. |

I picked up this scissor jack from Harbor Freight several months ago to help with tire rotation (along with the OEM scissor jack). Less than $20US w/coupon plus shipping. Fits into the cars jacking point box just fine.

I made a plunge yesterday and bought a Mercedes spare wheel (no tire) 19x5.5 offset +13. I still have to look for a tire. I plan to go with the tire made for the BMW i3: 155/70/19 or 175/60/19. I need to figure out if the 175 will fit under the cargo area correctly.
For those interested, the i3 wheels seems to be an interesting alternative with the same bolt pattern, center bore and conical seat. But for those with the M-sport brakes, I don't think the offset is enough. The i3 wheel width is 5". Another finding is the Audi Allroad 2016. On paper, it should fit our X1/X2. I am not sure tho about Audi center bore of 66.5mm and BMW is 66.6mm. Same converns for the M-sport brakes. If someone wants to try, I find this today on Ebay: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/2016-AUDI-AL...M/133533024010 The collapsible tire that comes with it is the good size for our X1/X2: 175/55/19. It's 1.5% smaller (26.6" versus 27" diameter) Too bad that I already paid for the Mercedes wheel. If not, I might go with this Audi because of the collapsible tire. |
