Ok, that's great news, thanks!
One thing I forgot to ask. I know that the 8.8" screen with touch capability came out with the 2017 X1 models, but would it still be possible to install this 8.8" touch display in a 2016 X1? |

Great! thanks for the info ventjock.
Ok, I'll keep the non-touch display option since it is a bit cheaper (just 100 Euros cheaper than the 8.8" touch display on Ebay) and I know at least it should work with the older 2016 X1. As soon as I'm done, and everything went hopefully well, I'll post some pics here. Thanks for your fast responses! |

So, I finally managed to replace my 6.5" display with the beautiful 8.8", and it looks great!
Thanks to MJE60 and his advices the whole procedure lasted about 20 minutes. The main reason why I am writing though is to say that the coding part was a bit different for my car, and this is, I believe, due to the fact that my late 2016 X1 has the Entrynav and not Entrynav 2 head unit. I noticed something was different as soon as I got into the HU section, there was no 3005/3006 section there. So, after a while I found a blog with a similar explanation on how to replace and code the same screen on a F46/F48 and saw that there were only two codes, and these worked for me. There are just two steps: 1. 3000 HMI -> Display_Size_Resolution (here you can change both size and resolution from 6.5 to 8.8 and 800x480 to 1280x480) 2. 3001 EXBOX -> Display_Variante (change from schmal to breites) This is all. There is no 3006 Nav Section where you need to set the display resolution to 1280x480, this is somehow already done with the aforementioned steps. I hope this helps anyone with a Entrynav head unit who wants to replace their smaller screen with the bigger one. Once again thanks to MJE60 and everyone else who gave advices on this topic! |

I'm on the same way currently. Thanks for all the info above! There is one thing I'm not sure about. Which type of screen is better for our 2016 X1 - Alpine AL4801 or AL4802? (w/o or w touch screen). Because the price is better for AL 4802 but I'm not sure if it fits my car. |

Hello All
I'm fairly new to this, just got my BMW X1 2017 last week, and i would like to change my 6.5 to a 8.8 screen, where can i find to buy a HU and screen for a decent price? Can anyone tell/help me with this? When i look on ebay i don't see that much for the F48, and there from Lithuania. Any help is appreciated. |

Here in Germany we have also ebay classifieds (ebay Kleinanzeigen) and there you can find private sellers. Maybe the seller is even willing to ship the CID to the Netherlands. You can search there as well and give it a try. I have no other ideas for a used CID. Good luck! |

Lithuania is a great country and part of the EU, so buying from there should not be a problem for NL buyer. As long as an eBay seller has good feedback and you pay using credit card or PayPal there should be little risk. Just make sure you buy the correct CID for your F48, some being listed are not touch displays and some advertised for F48 are actually not compatible for Entrynav (cars built before 06/2017). If you are worried about buying stolen parts then it can be a small risk from any seller unless they provide the donor car VIN number, even then how do you check? Entrynav 2 allows 8.8” CID (screen) retrofit and should also allow Carplay activation. Whether you can get Carplay depends on whether your HU has a wlan port on the back, most European cars do have “ wlan preparation” but you may need to remove HU and check the back and also fit a fakra wireless aerial (cheap easy to get). So, in answer to your question, If you have Entrynav 2 HU then you do not normally need to replace it to get Carplay but your HU must have wlan socket on the back so you can install an aerial. In BMW Carplay needs both Bluetooth and wireless to work, it uses both to handle data volume. If you want to know more about the wlan ready HU, you can check technical doc which has pictures showing location of sockets on back of HU. https://f48.bimmerpost.com/forums/at...5&d=1443221546 If you want information on who can help enable carplay (they will charge ) then I can PM with two contact names (I have no connection to these people) but please make sure you have “wlan ready” HU first. If you are changing your CID you will need to remove HU anyway. Last edited by MJE60; 02-05-2021 at 06:08 AM.. |

I read somewhere (I can't remember where) that, if your smartphone is close to the HU, then it is not necessary to plug in an antenna because there is still sufficient signal through the WLAN socket. Close would be a dash mount or cup-holder mount.
Also, there is a method to confirm if the HU has a WLAN socket by looking up the VIN. Can anyone confirm either or both? It would easier not to have to pull out the HU. |

If you look at bmw technical info (forum thread) you can see that s650 and s654 options (dab tuner) HU appear to have Preparation of WLAN antenna as standard (but not certain). Anyone with wifi hotspot in build code will obviously have as well (as the actual antenna). Unfortunately I am not sure what VIN info will identify you DO NOT have a HU with wlan preparation. Hopefully someone will. Last edited by MJE60; 02-06-2021 at 06:43 AM.. |

Hey guys,
I'm currently in the process of installing an Android 10, 12.3 display system on my 2018 BMW X1 (f48). I'm installing the iNAV unit sold by 4x4shop. My car didn't have the navigation package, so I will be installing the aftermarket GPS antenna. 1. I'm not sure where to place the GPS antenna for good coverage but also aesthetics, I would like to keep it out of the view (e.g., under the dashboard ...? ). I'm wondering if there is any pointer or experience placing the GPS antenna that you could share. 2. I would also like to update my iDrive Controller. I don't mind the touch control, neither need it (but if it works with the android unit, I would consider adding it too). I currently have the basic HU (5 buttons) and would like something with the 7 buttons (including tel and nav) and a bigger (modern) wheel. I see a lot of these units on eBay but I'm not sure which one to buy that I just could plug & play but removing old and placing the new with the same cable. Any pointers here? Thanks in advance, |

I just installed an upgraded Android screen from China and I'm having some issues with audio on the Android side. The BMW Bluetooth works well but unfortunately the Android audio comes through with tons of static.
Anyone experience anything like this? |

Is there actually a P/N for the 10.25” display trim plate? I didn’t see it on realoem. I may be misreading the post below; but this is exactly what I’m after. Has anyone fitted one from an F15 or even the G20? I’ve seen threads in the F30 forum discussing successful G20 retrofits sigh EVO, but nothing for F48. Thanks in advance! Quote:

Most of realoem schematics and search appears restricted to cars built up to 12/2019 and the 10.25” screen did not appear until LCI, so later. I did an internet search for F48 10.25” CIDtrim and found a couple of part number which when entered into realoem search gave schematics and details. I attach the screen shots, I suggest you contact a BMW dealership and get them to order and confirm the part would fit. I cannot confirm because whilst 6.5” and 8.8” trim fits into dash space on pre Lci f48 I do not know if 10.25 part will fit or which one to order order. Final point lhd and rhd are different. I cannot help further, sorry.
