X2 M35i 1/4 mile run (dragy pic attached)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Have to say I am surprised on the performance of the X2 M35i. Was able to do a dragy verified 13.1 @103 mph with LC. Most surprising was that the run was performed on a 25 mile car with what is likely crappy 89 octane delivery port gas and a passenger. Have video if anyone is interested but cant seem to upload it

Did you use launch mode? I've held off testing mine until I have more miles, but hmm, nice result thanks for sharing.

I would think we would see better 60 foot times with launch control...I usually see well under 2 seconds for all wheel drive cars. Nice time though!

Yes LC was used and it pulled hard so I was surprised as well to see 2.0 and not a 1.7-1.8 like on the M340xi. It was about 35 degrees outside but I don't think this was the cause as there was basically no wheelspin. Either way it falls right in line with what Car and Driver achieved in their instrumented test which is done with a pro at a track, good gas, etc.

Nice!

The hp calculators from et and trap speed consistently say 315-320 wheel hp.

I think that it can trap higher honestly once broken in. Drove a M235i Gran Coupe (didn't have the dragy), and that definately felt faster

It’s AWD. We should be getting 1.6-1.8 60’ ... I bet it could hit 12s with that. 😳

Lose the factory runflats and put on some decent tires, that'll be good for a bump right there.

I gotta say, I’m loving my car. It’s a blast to drive around every day. Love to see these kind of posts and makes me sad that it doesn’t seem like there was much of a take rate on these things so far. I Learned so much from this forum when my e90 335i came out and in the years to follow. Everybody wants to bash Bmw and hate on these different platforms but they don’t know what they’re missing.

The hate on these vehicles is legendary...what am I driving, an Aztec? I also love the twits on forums declaring that only people buying them are badge snobs or people "new to the brand who just want to say they drive an M" or "rich wives/spoiled daughters"...

A) I'm a 6' 2" 190 lbs Jamaican dude, now on my 4th BMW/3rd brand new;
B) Who says women don't like to drive fast, cool cars because they're fast and cool, and they can drive?
C) how the hell would you know why anyone does anything anyway?
D) Why are they even worried about it? Your M3/4/5 whatever isn't gonna turn into a pumpkin because M-Performance cars exist. Relax, have a cream soda, do some friggin' thing...

Cream soda sounds wonderful.
I’ve been itching to go to the mountains with some of these 335 and e36/46 m3 guys, even e90. I know my girl can hang and will surprise a bunch.

Hell, I was behind a loud ass mustang yesterday and had to check up twice because I was about to accelerate right into the back of him on the interstate.

I also ran on track in a lead/follow with an old m5 and that poor baby couldn’t breathe enough cool air to run fast.

I traded in an e92 with a manual, a “real” BMW for some, for my M35i and I love it. They’re completely different kinds of cars, and there’s nothing wrong with that, you just shouldn’t judge one by the other. Plus I really don’t miss the sitting-on-the-floor feeling of the driving position of the e92. Even though my head was touching the headliner.

I love how this thread has morphed. Yes, six months in and I just put my 20s back on for summer. I'm giddy to go play on my local mountain roads. My favorite run is Ebbetts Pass in the northern Sierras. I never really know a car until I take it over that road and compare it to all that I've driven before (motorcycles too). I'm very curious about how the front-drive bias will respond in the hairpins. As to the "unicorn" status, yes it's great. I still think I have the only one in Reno, since my dealer never carried one and was surprised to have to order an oil filter the first time in for service. I know this sounds a bit crazy, but this is like the perfect car (for me). I can get my dog in the back and to the trailhead easily, or throw my road bike in back without taking off the front wheel (those are my two main criteria). There's just enough clearance you don't have to pick your way over dirt access roads (and which gives you decent road view and presence on street and highway), and it flat out kicks ass on the road. The best car for me was probably my last-model-year available (2009) Outback XT with manual (with a few mods), but I don't miss it all that much. My son works at a car wash and I went by yesterday. He and the boys told me to "rev it". I complied. The surprised looks on their faces was priceless...
