Link works now, thanks. A decent write up. Like all vehicles there are compromises here but I like the performance upgrade. I like the additional height over a standard hatch so this vehicle works for me. If I like the test drive I’ll trade in the X1.

This has to be one of the least-reviewed performance vehicles ever! Did BMW deliberately keep reviewers away?

Still puzzled about this car... It's in the X family so we expect it to be a crossover or SAV (BMW made up terminology) as intended by BMW. However, its sales (together with that of X1) was lumped into overall sedan sales and not in the same category as X3 / X5 and other SAVs. :

Its a hatch plain and simple, not an SAV. Its impossible to tell from pix but when you stand next to it you will understand, this is a car thats designed like a crossover but just slightly higher than a traditional sedan. And its great! Finally a unique design from bmw. Cant believe all the hate by some but this is a great sleeper car and im glad that M did its magic as this car is fast, handles great and is the full package.

Completely disagree with you here. I just saw the new Z4 in Misano Blue and it was stunning. I'm a huge fan of Long Beach Blue, but I would probably pick Misano Blue over it. Add a CF roof and accents to it and it would be down right amazing.
