Just out of curiosity how many of you are holding out for the (possible) S55 M2?

I'm hoping more people decide to hold out for the "possible" S55 so the current waiting list gets shorter and I can get my N55 M2 before next fall!!

If you interested I know there is another spot at Prestige BMW in NJ. I believe the spot has a build date in November. As far as I know, its going for MSRP.

Begin the whole markups and good luck finding a car all over again. Unless you are looking to mod heavily and get into the 600-800HP range there really isn't a point. Save your cash, get a M2 now and enjoy.

S55 will be a big price increase and taking it into M3/M4 base range. Which is not a target market for M2 buyers. only a S55 CSL makes sense with limited number and price justification.

The top posts on the discussion and pricing/ordering forums over the past month have been the speculation on the S55 M2.
Is there anyone satisfied with what they currently have? Is the S55 going to make anyone's life measurably better? Car enthusiasts seem more concerned with the model of the engine then just the overall package and driving pleasure they get with a car. Unless the new car comes with a minimal price increase, I will be perfectly content with the current iteration of the M2. Now obviously if they release it around the same price, I won't be too pleased with the potential devaluation of my current vehicle. I think the likelihood of that is small. If this car comes, expect it to start in the mid-60s rather than the low-50s. |

I don't really care if M2 keeps the N55 or S55 but I do want to grab the LCI changes. Hence looking for 2018 MY, which is not that far actually.
By then, I would be very close to paying off my 335i as well. But to get 2018 LCI model, you have to get on the dealer list now or at least start the process by looking around.

I disagree. S55 would not bump up the M2 by $12k. You're not considering the bigger, more luxurious M3/4; less plastic/more leather interior vs M2, carbon fiber roof, M-leather bucket seats, richer leather (soft touch) vs cheaper leather (rougher touch) in M2, m-mirrors, etc. I'm sure I'm missing more here, but the point is the S55 would not take the M2 to the M3/4 base price. I believe the base will go up, but definitely not by much (Have to stay within market price vs competitors). Competitors are increasing power in their vehicles and staying in market price.

i Don't know if i would specifically hold out for the S55 but the new B58 engine if that one would get the M treatment and added to the M2 then possibly yes, Cause i bet the S55 will come with an awesome $$$ sticker on it :-) Otherwise most people will do fine with the N55 its been around for long most issues are addressed and there is plenty of tunes available for those wanting more, But don't want to change the car.
