Did anyone notice the time difference between last years Focus ST run and this years Focus ST run? That's a huge difference.

Deposits and orders. Depending on your dealer, it'll be anywhere from 5%-10%. Don't pay any sort of dealer markup, for every dealer selling with a markup, there are 100 selling at MSRP.

I've had a deposit on mine for 2 months. Dealers just received their first allocations a few days ago, and all of the manual-coupe orders will be going in soon. Convertibles and autos are after that.

Is it different driver this time around? Or drastically different track conditions? I have a hard time believing the E63 is 5 seconds faster than the M5. And the RS7 is quicker too. 4x4 is that big of an advantage?

The track was repaved just few months ago. Making past times irrelevant. Some are trying to make the claim it doesn't make a big difference on street tires. But clearly from times, as you and others have pointed out. It has made a huge difference.

What was the delta at the 'Ring? IIRC it was something like 12 seconds between the E9x and the F8X, maybe? So, how would a 12s delta on a long course like that translate to a shorter course like VIR? Again, way too many variables but it would seem to me the 5s delta at VIR would be somewhat expected based on the 'Ring results? Maybe not. What's interesting is the article mentioned almost nothing about the resurfacing and the impact on times. Again, not that it doesn't impact it, but you would think it would have been discussed more fully if they believed it made a "hugely" significant impact.

And that's another point to keep in mind, these times are the best times from several runs over three days of testing not just a single flying lap. Please stop making claims if you haven't read the entire article. |

On the Nürburgring that difference alone would allot for 10-20 seconds of lap time, depending on the reference tire. IIRC the R8 comes with Pirelli PZero tires as standard which are already much better than the Continentals in this test. Put it on Pirelli Corsas and I would expect it to be significantly faster. It's rather surprising they used the Continantal tires which nobody I'm aware of would ever drive on that car.

I had a feeling through out even though we had a lot of nay sayers around here that did not want to believe that the C7 stingray will be definitely faster around the track than M4. Well it puts that debate to rest. A C7 stingray a whole 7 sec per lap faster under identical conditions and driver. I say a huge margin of victory for a car that also beats M4 in fuel mileage with its naturally aspirate awesome sounding V8. I like M4 but I am excited and wanting to own a 2015 C7 stingray Z51 with up coming 8-speed transmission that will be the fastest stingray based on GM and will have even better fuel economy than the 2014 model. Nice job GM and cost of ownership half of BMW....my nxt car
Also, those M235i numbers are awfully close to that of 2007 N54 twin turbo 335i coupe with sport pkg. In other words you get same performance as you did in 2007 in a slightly smaller pkg. I think ill keep my N54 tuned 07 E92 335i coupe all paid off.
