I get surprisingly few emails. I have my official university account, and since that is subject to FOIA requests, I keep it strictly business. I have my primary personal account which I do not give out to many people or businesses, so that stays fairly clear of spam. Then I have my old Hotmail account which I give out to businesses if I think I might need to communicate with them in the future. Then I have my dont-spam.me account, which I use for anyone I think might be just wanting to spam me. I rarely check that and usually instantly delete whatever I find in the inbox when I do check it.
I learned long ago to avoid signing up for newsletters or listservs as I hardly ever read what comes in from them and the stuff just clutters up my inbox. Easier to deal with the wheat if there is less chaff.

I just got my box down to 0 at around 9:45, and right now it's 757. Again this is work, and we already have a spam/security/archiving system. I also have 3 phones at my desk, on 3 different phone systems (one cloud, one Avaya, another land line/copper), and have had to try to talk to all 3 of them and also on my personal cell using bluetooth.
Whatever, right? First world problems.... |

Power is out for gawd knows what reason so I have to use my laptop and Mifi to surf. Laptop only has about an hour of charge left. I could be facing internet deprivation soon.

"Plug in or find another power source." The end is nigh dear friends. I'm about to enter internet nuclear winter. No access. No forums. No news. No emails. And worst of all, no Spider Solitaire. Such horror. This can't be happe

God Bless the Electric Company. Power came back on right as the laptop died. Now I don't have to go to bed before midnight. How embarrassing that would have been.

In the 11 yrs that we've lived in this house, the power has gone out 4 times. Oddly, two times in the last year, and one of those in the last 4 mos. The last time was the most disconcerting....breast milk frozen in the freezer, for real. That cannot be replaced! The insurance co. Said they would have sent someone who would have pumped it at our house since our policy covers replacement value, but that is too weird for me.....

Here in South Florida the power goes out at least once a month even if it's just for a couple minutes. I have a battery backup on just about every outlet. I've had to replace our oven twice in the last few years due to them getting fried every time we get a power hit. During hurricane Wilma in 2005 we had no power for three weeks!

FIL is installing a natural gas generator at his house. It detects a failure and fires up almost instantly. Runs very quietly and since it's using the same natural gas supply as the house, there's no gas tank to keep filled. They lost power for over a week during a freak ice storm one October a few years ago and they tend to lose power for a few hours every time they get a heavy thunderstorm or snow storm. They're in CT.
I think he mentioned and $8k or so price tag for the setup. Pricey, but he should recoup that when he sells the house.

She won the lets take the Z4 battle. She used the "but with the top down we'll have a better view" defense. Luckily for me I found a good corner spot. So it was only a 50% ding factor.

Cork broke off in my $180 bottle of scotch. I'm going to sue.

I was Scotch shopping (as opposed to hopscotching) today. I couldn't decide between The Balvenie Caribbean Cask or the Dalmore 12. So I bought both. Time for some direct comparisons. But what if I really like them both? Decisions, decisions.
