Best year used X1?
my '06 X3 has 150k, solid car tho. doesn't burn a drop of oil. was changed every 5k and always garaged. original CA car, now in Utah.
was thinking about a used X1, would need xDrive here. just the newest I can afford, or were there certain years that made more sense? Thanks, Tim |

If its important to you, stock CarPlay is nearly impossible to add on a 2016-2018. There are aftermarket options, but expensive.
Elsewhere, before the 2020 LCI there were some minor interior cosmetic tweaks in 2019. I think the shifter knob was changed to the modern BMW style and the instrument cluster got upgraded to a more digital design. I'm not aware of anything else. So if I were in your shoes, I'd just get the newest in your budget so you are under warranty for a while. |

thank you, I guess the motor hasn't changed. I wonder if I will miss that old workhorse X3 motor.
CarPlay is Apple? I don't use apple, would just like to be able to connect phone to Bluetooth. I see very few with the premium audio, I can always put the Bavsound replacement speakers that are a huge upgrade. thanks again |

As jmhumr mentioned, end-2018, early-2019 is probably your best option since it is pre-LCI, so should be cheaper, but you still get basically everything from the LCI, apart from the exterior cosmetics.

The OP is shopping for a used X1. My point is that it's rare to find a used X1 in that timeframe that includes the CarPlay compatibility option. Most builds simply didn't include it. Has nothing to do with "paying up."
