Hello,

I am a newbie here, purchased a 2015 X1 25d xDrive (F48) from Germany and imported it in France. Low kilometers car, very well optioned, love it so far!

The map look like the original that came with the car (dated 2015) and I am trying to figure out how to update it to the latest version.

So... I went to the BMW site for my country (France), created an account, registered my car and it looks like I have to purchase an annual subscription to the "Connected Booster" for €79... It's not even clear from the description they have on the web page that the map will be included.

So, what are my options here?

Map update was included into connected booster pack,
i've just checked the Bmw page and is no longer included.

Best option is to ask for a FSC code +map to the guys in here
i did it and it cost me a lot less..

FANTASTIC... Couple of questions tho:

- I read that there are two type of map files for BMW. Not sure the one I have. Can that be determined from the photo I posted above?

- Are there installation instructions somewhere?

you have ROUTE as your is an Entrynav,

installation is really simple:

USB drive(with map) into the USB port under the armrest,
select update on the screen
insert FSC code
20min
you're done

• On the USB drive do all the files need to be at the root level? (enclosed image shows what I have on my USB drive at the root level).
• Do I need to leave the car on during the update, or can I start the update process, turn the car off, lock the doors and go away?

my case (i already had the map downloaded but i preferred to use his)

1) Choose West or East Map, and Download Map Archive .7z file.
2) Open Map Archive .7z file using latest version of 7-Zip and Extract the map (Use 7-Zip for Windows).
3) Upon Extraction, you will have a "NAVD_00001DDF_255_008_08x" folder, and inside it, 1 Sub-folder named 1, and 3 files.
4) Copy only the the 1 Sub-folder named 1, and 3 file from inside the " NAVD_00001DDF_255_008_08x " folder to the root of a >= 32 Gb Fat32 (MS-DOS) Formatted (NOT exFAT or NTFS) USB Flash Drive (Use latest version of Fat32 Formatter for Windows).
5) Insert USB Flash Drive into the center armrest USB Port, and wait 60 seconds.
6) Follow the instructions on screen, entering your FSC Enabling Code with iDrive Controller when prompted to and the map will proceed to install.

i left the car running the entire time, it tooks about 20 min to complete, for sure you have to wait more for bigger/more detailed maps

On a similar note, is there a way of getting the live traffic updates other than going through BMW and paying them the silly price for it?

IT WORKED! I ended up getting the FSC code off eBay and the map file from the download location indicated.

One question tho: the FSC code, is it a one time use or will I be able to use it for the next map update?

Hi can i ask how you got to this stage? I have downloaded the file from that link (which took ages as it is limited to how much you can download) but it juts came through as the one file (type .7z) and even when I extraced it all it stayed as the same? I tried using both the windows unzip and winzip ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you get any further with this mate? I’ve heard that you can only get FSC from BMW but open to other suggestions… I presume BMW will be a fortune!
