What a slap in the face that you can get a proper DCT on a $35k Hyundai and not an M3/4/5/6/8

I for one like it.
Might just head to a local dealership when they hit the floors to check it out. Been looking for something smaller than my truck thats still "utilitarian" that my wife wouldnt mind driving.

you can even get a DCT on the veloster N or Golf GTI. But can't get it on a supra or M car now.

I like it! I love that Hyundai/Kia keep pushing out anything to see what sticks. They have to be the least conservative car company out there.

Think Hyundai has a winner...good looking vehicle that will carve its niche.

I like that there are more small truck options, but this is going to be a failure in the US despite it being more suited to most pickup owners actual uses. They styling is going to kill it. I guarantee the Ford Maverick will massively outsell it simply because it looks like a truck and not the rebirth of the Subaru Baja. Even the redesigned Ridgeline will do better.
US buyers don't want trucks that look like cars. |

I agree, although I'd also add because its a Ford. There's a good amount of truck buyers who don't buy trucks (big or small) that aren't American branded.

These in person are certainly..different, but price/power/tech puts it in a sweet spot that makes a great use case |

Yep, I always find it funny how people think they are getting a truly American car, if only they read the parts content/build sticker they'd be shocked.

Interior and exterior appearance aren't bad. A bit like a Subaru BRAT. Locking center diff, that's good. Bed is too small. One bike can't fit. Too small. It seems the rear window doesn't go down like the 4Runner or have a mid-gate like the Avalanche. Not good IMO. I sat in a current model Ridgeline recently. Typical Honda utilitarianism - nothing to complain about and nothing to get excited about. The Santa Cruz has more spice and appeal than the Ridgeline, but the utility is questionable to me. |

Now if only BMW finally built a truck, like raptor svt, lol (I’m kind of serious) it would sell like hot cakes. That hyuindai truck has a dct because it can get away with it. It’s not designed to haul heavy loads so it only makes sense to use their in-house dct and not pay zf any licensing fees.
