I too had heard/read that tinting the sunroof panels could result in cracks. I think because the glass tries to expand as it gets hot but can't expand because of the confines of the sunroof frame. When you tint side windows or even back windscreen there's probably more expansion space....

Anyway...now I bought an X3 that came with pano roof. Yup the car gets hot, even when the outside temp was only 25c but sunny. And the X3's sunroof blind is more dense than the X2's.
