I love the pano roof and it's one of the few reasons I bought the X1 over a V60CC. You can add tinting to the sunroof which greatly helps with the incoming heat factor even with the lining open. I don't think I've ever driven with the lining closed as long as there wasn't snow on the top of the car.
My only issue was a creak, which I finally identified was the center support car on a specific lip. I glued on some fuzzy side of velcro and the creaking has gone away.
No regrets as it relates to the pano roof. As a footnote in 2016 in the US it was pretty much a mandatory accessory due to the package structure.
