My most common advice to photographers that I meet, with great equipment and basic composition mastered is, shoot with Raw and use Lightroom or DxO to convert to JPG. I'm amazed at how few take that advice and get stuck with almost wonderful shots.
I think that many think that I'm suggesting Photoshopping and altering every shot, not realizing that I'm not talking about that at all. Oh well...
