The BMW part number for "Compact spare wheel, steel, black size 3.5BX17 ET:18" is 36116851507 (as at April 2016)

I purchased from Tirerack.com a Kumho Spare T121 size T135/90R17 to suit. The original wheel lug bolts can be used. I then purchased a generic scissor jack (2000Kg) from an autoparts store, along with a generic lug nut wrench.

This is the only spare wheel BMW sells for the X1, AFAIK. The wheel and tyre combination (135/90x17" has *approximately* the same rolling diameter as 225/55x17", 225/50x18" and 225/45x19", which are the X1 wheel size options.
