Before driving this car I would said the same about auto boxes but it really is good enough to change the attitude of most.
BMW steering wheel buttons seem very intuitive ~ thumb push to go down a gear/ pull with fingers to come back. Sort of fits in with the controls on my bikes campag ergo levels..well sort of.
Anyway with all that torque, gear changes arn't really required as much

I got cheesed off with the auto in my 530d ... but then it was an old 218bhp/500nm one without paddleshifts.
The new auto box is supposed to be a lot quicker and as you say - with 700nm you don't really need to change gear much.
Are you going to take the plunge then?
