___DIY - Heat Shield For BMS Intake - 535i

Just to update that there was no test done before or after installing the barrier to see if there was any air restriction which may increase/decrease performance. Also, note that there is no guarantee that this DIY will keep heat and dirt away from the air filter. Please use this as a form of research and use it to your own discretion.

-sheet metal 26 gauge 12"x24"
-10" metal cutting snips
-3M tape
-high temp spray paint
-rubber tube seal along the top (not shown)

The shield was cut from a single 12x24 sheet metal into two separate pieces, parts A is outline in RED and B in GREEN (see pic).

The overall size of the shield is 10.25"x11" with the height of 3.75" in the back tapering down to 2.5" in front.

Part A is taped to part B with 3M tape (test fit first). I made the shield to fit the inside of the stock intake box, there is a little edge that runs along the inside. Next was to spray it with high temp paint and place the rubber seal along the top and in the back around the BMS intake housing.

Thanks and Good Luck!
