One question I have so far is about the power sockets. The owners manual shows a power socket under the arm rest but the photos and reviews I've seen don't reflect this? Can anyone Confirm the US models will have this under the armrest?

Nope. The 12-V socket is in front of the drink holder. Another one is under glove compartment on passenger left foot. There's one more in the trunk. However, there's a USB port under arm rest in central console which can be used for charging your phone together with media control on the phone.
