here. It's basically the wear rating.. or how long the tire will last. The lower the number, the stickier the tire, but the quicker it wears out.
A 140 rating is on the threshold of what would be considered a street tire, and lower than that is generally regarded as an R Compound (or racing tire), and usually regarded as such in autosport classes.
