From everything I've heard/read from the doctors they are really just there in case YOU are infected you don't go sneezing and coughing on shit. Unless you have the n95 ones I don't think they do much for protecting you from any airborne stuff. Haven't read much on if this thing is even airborne, but I think the consensus so far is that it's unlikely you would catch it from the air.

So in that case I'm not sure how important a super tight seal would be.
