As I stated in a previous post, the service manager at the dealership nearest to me gave me a bottle of 10w60 and when I questioned him about it not being the right stuff, he insisted that it was correct and that every M car since the beginning of time used the 10w60. He then told me to hold on for a few minutes, and went into the back of the shop somewhere. He came back and apologized that he was incorrect.

The part that concerned me the most was during our conversation about the 10w60 being incorrect, is when I had asked whether or not they had serviced any current model M5's, to which he stated a couple of them. I then asked, did you use the 10w60?, to which he responded, I am sure we did.

So as stated by the OP, definitely ask about the oil changes and servicing. Seems there are a few dealerships that aren't aware of what to be using or doing. So I say, better to be safe than sorry.
