This depends heavily on the laws and restrictions in your region for a definitive answer, however in general items such as this will not void the vehicle warranty but will certainly void sections of the warranty related to the item and anything that may result from the installation of said unit.
i.e. if you're working on the wiring behind the dash and short +12v into the electrical system damaging the assorted onboard computers then those would most likely not be repaired under warranty, however if you installed it and then your rear axle broke they should not void the warranty on that part, however once again, regions and countries have different rules and regulations regarding this.
