Let's not get overexcited. Although Porsche probably is the most successful sports car manufacturer, their track record in F1 is rather underwhelming.
They have won exactly one (1) F1 GP - the 1962 French GP.
As an engine supplier, Porsches last participation with Footwork back in 1991 was a horrible disaster.
