I would definately change the fluid...your 'mechanics' are basically hittin you with the old "If it aint broke, don't fix it". With the DCT it only makes sense to change at your mileage. If you do everything correctly and refill with the proper amount and correct approved fluid, you'll be just fine.
On mine I've noticed the shifts actually feel a bit better...might be placebo, but I feel that way.

And changing the diff fluid as described in this thread is a BMW maintanence item every third oil change....no filters though...
