I have a pretty good mai tai recipe actually. I'll share it - it has both light and dark rum. Note this is for 1 serving size:

1.5 oz light rum
.75 oz Cointreau
.75 oz orgeat syrup (this is a key ingredient and use a high quality product, like this one here)
3 oz orange juice
3 oz pineapple juice

Mix & shake all ingredients over ice in cocktail shaker, then strain into a tall glass full of crushed ice. Guaranteed the drink will taste better if it's in a tiki glass
Garnish with a maraschino cherry, and add some of the maraschino syrup.
Finally, float a bit of dark 151 rum AND regular dark rum on top but do not stir. I use Gosling's rums. Stick a straw in it and serve.
