Around 3 hours is normal with BMW's, just because the rear suspension springs can be done in one hour both sides.

Personally, I do my rear springs myself and take the front strut assemblies to any auto shop for them to replace the springs as I do not have any spring compressors. The last time (E46 M3) that I did that I paid $42.00 total for the front springs installation and $90.00 for alignment afterwards.
