EVERYTHING (worth talking about) that is in or on a modern car, began life as a "crazy idea" in F1:
- Seatbelts
- Disc Brakes
- ABS
- etc, etc
It is VITAL to the sport AND the technological advancement of consumer car safety and development -- to allow F1 to experiment with radical ideas -

Actually many automotive advancements, including disk brakes and ABS came out of the 24 Hours of LeMans.
