^^^ I have had both an n54 335i and an n55 335i. The power of the n54 was unmatched in the n55 however I had way more problems with the n54 and the HPFP. That said is is a completely different b46 engine. Side note, I did not have any problems in the first 3 years of the n55 f30.
I am not sure there is enough data in BMWs to make this call, however I'm pretty sure this has been used for a bit longer with Mini Cooper.
