Yea I just noticed that the hard way - I was wondering why I couldn't peg the needle past 2500-2600rpm when trying to brake-torque somewhere in the 3-4k range.
I wonder if it's that way to limit transmission impact of some arbitrary number BMW put like what they did to non-euro M5's to limit launch control?
